AUSTERE MAGAZINE // January 14, 2016 // London Collections Men: Katie Eary AW16

What a fantastic change in Katie Eary’s Autumn 2016 collection at LCM.

This exciting switch to a more luxurious feel, made a great
impression on the last day of London Collections Men this season. It was
also the day of the great David Bowie’s passing, so finding out this
collection was inspired by Bowie circa 1971 during ‘the sacred
triangle’, was a great homage to the Goblin King.

Luxurious silk prints and a rich colour palette gave the collection a modern ’70s
throwback, also with exotic motifs that stamped Eary’s colourful
trademark onto these garments without being boisterous. Sock suspenders
on show with the men and relaxed silhouettes, especially on the
womenswear, gave a sexy boudoir feel when paired with furry mules.
Leather in silver trousers, brown skirts, and then some patent
trousers, really got the Bowie vibe pulsating through the clothing and
the models. This was a great venture for Katie Eary; I love seeing a
designer stepping out of their well known aesthetic and creating something
beautiful. I am sure everyone is now wondering: what is next?
